NVision is a quantum biotech startup based in Ulm, Germany, backed by Tier 1 investors from Silicon Valley and Europe. While pioneering MRI-based imaging with hyperpolarization technology, we have also been advancing cutting-edge quantum computing through our PIQC (Photo-Induced Quantum Computing) division since the company’s early days.
PIQC is a dedicated business unit within NVision, with its own funding and a bold mission: to develop the first scalable quantum computer based on photoactive organic molecules. Unlike traditional solid-state quantum approaches, PIQC leverages molecular crystals to gain unprecedented control over fundamental quantum properties. This enables us to tailor molecular qubits for scalability—an innovative approach that positions us at the forefront of exploring organic molecules for quantum computing.
As we push the boundaries of quantum science, our team, combining expertise in physics, chemistry, and engineering, is at the leading edge of this transformative field. This is a rare opportunity to join PIQC at an early stage, contribute to deep research, and help shape the future of scalable quantum computing.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We’re looking for a talented Quantum Optics Researcher (m/f/d) to join our team and advance the development of spin-optical quantum technologies. You will work in an interdisciplinary environment alongside physicists, chemists, and engineers, focusing on the design, build-up, and operation of advanced quantum optical setups at cryogenic temperatures.
This role offers a hands-on research setting with the full spectrum of developing a novel platform for quantum information: Conducting applied research on using novel organic molecules for quantum information science, the development of microwave and laser control methods for operating molecular qubits and exploring ways to build a scalable quantum computing architecture.
If you have a strong background in quantum optics, experience with cryogenic experiments, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of quantum research, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities
Design, build, enhance, and operate quantum optical experiments at cryogenic temperatures.
Conduct applied research in collaboration with the chemistry team to improve existing organic molecular qubits.
Conduct literature research and stay updated on advancements in molecular quantum systems, quantum optics techniques and quantum information science.
Develop control methods for spin-optical quantum computing systems.
Document and analyze measurement results.
Extend and improve existing experiment control software.
NVision is a quantum biotech startup based in Ulm, Germany, with Tier 1 investors from the USA and Europe. We are just leaving stealth mode, moving from local R&D to global commercialization and expansion.
We are developing a technology that will enable MRI-based imaging of real-time metabolism in the body, with tremendous potential for research and applications in oncology, cardiology, neurology and more. Our company brings together expertise in physics, chemistry, engineering and medicine, and we are collaborating with scientists and clinicians from top medical and research centers such as Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York, MD Anderson in Texas, Technical University of Munich, Cambridge University in the UK and more.
NVision is developing fast, robust and easy-to-use hyperpolarization technology for preclinical and clinical research in our POLARIS product line. Those devices are placed close to an MRI scanner in a research or clinical environment to produce hyperpolarized contrast agents on demand in a fast, fully-automated, multi-step chemical process. Key steps of the process contain fluidic transport across multiple vessels and chemical mixing and separation processes in fully-reuseable or single-use disposable fluid paths. We develop our commercial products jointly with external design and manufacturing partners and the process development as well as the design and manufacturing of prototypes is done entirely in-house.
We offer a dynamic international working environment, with immense room for growth, that encourages personal initiative and open communication.
