About the Internship
Are you an ambitious, creative, and talented journalist/writer eager to make your mark? Join our editorial team at Madrid Secreto. Based in Madrid, you'll dive into the heart of the city's vibrant arts, culture, food, and drink scene, contributing inspiring content to our websites and social channels. As part of our small but dynamic editorial team, you'll gain invaluable digital newsroom experience, crafting engaging articles, stories, and social media content while using our in-house systems to deliver top-notch quality. Your primary focus will be Madrid Secreto, so local knowledge is essential.
This internship is a paid internship, with monthly payments provided, and potential for a permanent role upon completion of six months!
Role Responsibilities
- Identify digital focus stories and generate compelling article ideas, always considering social media amplification, with the supervision and orientation of the Editor for Madrid Secreto.
- Stay updated on digital technology, data tools, and social media trends in order to propose ideas on how to take Madrid Secreto to the next level.
- Craft engaging, accurate, and informative content in Spanish across various formats, including articles, video scripts, and social media captions.
- Become an expert on the city's key venues, events, news stories, and trends.
- Occasionally film and do basic editing of videos, in which you might have to be in front of the camera!
About You
- Possibility of an agreement with school/university is mandatory.
- Native-level in written and spoken Spanish is required, while proficient English is essential.
- Previous writing experience, whether in student journalism, blogging, or other published work.
- Bonus points for social media content creation skills, from TikTok to X.
- Passion for city life and the topics we cover, along with a wealth of creative ideas.
- Strong news sense and understanding of digital media trends, with a knack for creating popular online content.
- Proactive, can-do attitude with a commitment to seeing tasks through to completion.
- Fluent in English (our international team communicates in English), with the ability to publish content mainly in Spanish.
- Possibility of an agreement with school/university is mandatory.

Interview Process
- Introduction call with the Talent team (15 - 30 minutes)
- Psychometric test (60 minutes)
- Take home test
- Interview with the Madrid Secreto Editor and another SMN team member (culture fit/skills interview)
