Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.
We are a pioneering company with European roots that is dedicated to advancing international collaboration in space. As we expand our global presence, we are establishing a strong technical footprint in the United States (US) to support on-going development as well as develop new reuseable space transportation vehicles for applications in the US and around the world.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead US Space Systems Architect to play a critical role in shaping our expansion into the US aerospace market. This position requires a blend of technical, systems engineering, business development and sales support skills.
While TEC US headquarters is located in Houston, TX, qualified candidates working remotely in other US locations may be considered for this position.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership and Systems Engineering
· Lead the definition of new space systems and missions.
· Conduct system trade studies, performance analyses, and design optimizations to meet mission objectives and customer requirements.
· Develop and maintain CONOPS, system-level requirements, interface definitions, and verification plans.
· Provide early cost, schedule and risk estimates for new systems.
Business Development and Sales Support
· Support US Business Development and Sales efforts to government and commercial customers.
· Define and drive technical solutions that meet US customer needs and requirements.
· Lead the technical volume of US government and commercial proposals, including the integration of cost, schedule and risk elements into cohesive bids.
· Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, commercial partners, and aerospace industry leaders.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
· Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
· 8+ years of experience in space systems architecture, systems engineering, or space systems development.
· Broad knowledge across spacecraft sub-systems, re-entry technologies, and/or hypersonics.
· Knowledge of the space systems lifecycle including requirements definition, design, integration, test, and operations.
· Knowledge of US contracting processes, including NASA, DoD, and commercial space procurement.
· Experience with technical proposals for aerospace programs.
· Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary international teams.
Desirable:
· Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field technical field.
· Experience with ISS resupply, LEO station logistics, or deep space exploration programs.
· Familiarity with U.S. aerospace regulations, FAA licensing, and export control (ITAR/EAR).
· Previous experience working in a startup or fast-growing aerospace company.
· Security clearance or ability to obtain one, if required.
