Summary
We’re looking for an empathetic manager with a strong technical background in AI/Machine Learning/Data Science to support and coach our AI Researchers and help drive initiatives that improve our AI Research practices across our cross-functional teams, in close collaboration with Engineering Managers and Product Managers. You may be required to engage in hands-on AI research activities as needed.
You’ll report into the SVP of AI, and your focus will be on helping AI Researchers with their personal and professional development, helping build resilience and celebrate their successes. You will play a key role in helping teams to become high-performing through building strong partnerships with the Head of AI Systems and leading AI Researchers across multiple teams.
Responsibilities
Supporting, coaching and developing AI Researchers through regular 1:1s, continuous feedback, and relationships with team leads.
Partnering with senior AI Researchers to drive technical initiatives that improve our AI Research practices.
In collaboration with Engineering Managers and Product Managers, ensuring AI Researchers in teams follow AI Research principles at high productivity.
Supporting teams’ AI Research leads in implementing the AI Research strategy ensuring team alignment and motivation, and delivery quality and timelines.
Contributing to management best practices: helping us become an exceptional place to work for ambitious and highly motivated people.
Partnering with the technology leadership to ensure teams are properly staffed and able to be highly effective.
Partnering with the People department, setting up hiring processes and interviewing candidates, paying special attention to cultural and team fit.
Onboarding new team members.
Facilitating the AI Research function’s ceremonies, such as leading the AI Research Guild.
Owning the maintenance of the AI Research website.
Requirements
You have previous experience managing the performance and development of 5+ AI Researchers, including seniors and leads.
You know what good looks like for a high-performing AI Researcher and how to get there.
You have previously worked as an AI Researcher at a senior level.
You have an empathetic leadership style and you build strong, effective relationships.
You are passionate about helping others achieve their goals, avoid burnout and become the best AI Researchers they can be.
You excel at solving disagreements in the team and giving constructive feedback about issues.
