Description
We are seeking a Python Test & Measurement Engineer to join our fast-growing hardware team. In this junior- to mid-level capacity, you’ll be responsible for writing, refining, and maintaining Python scripts used in testing and measuring a variety of quantum sensing hardware components - including sensors, laser controllers, translation stages, and more. Your work will ensure the hardware team can efficiently explore new ideas and troubleshoot experimental setups without getting bottlenecked by our main, product-focused software stack.
Who we are
Spun out of TU Munich in 2022, QD makes "the invisible visible" by leveraging synthetic diamonds to capture three-dimensional current maps inside complex chips in a blink. Our 30-strong team of physicists, engineers, and data scientists is already working side by side with all major semiconductor manufacturers, accelerating their yield analysis. We are backed by leading European deep tech investors and semiconductor experts, as well as supported by a variety of public funding schemes.
Why join Quantum Diamonds?
Being referred to as having the potential to become the “ASML of chip testing”, QD offers the chance to work on a technology with no direct rival. You’ll join a young, focused team that turns cutting-edge quantum-sensing research into working tools for the most advanced chips on the market. Leading chipmakers already use our systems, so the impact of your work shows up quickly on the factory floor. The organisation is flat, decisions follow the data, and everyone shares responsibility for pushing technical limits.
What will you do
- Develop and maintain Python-based test and measurement scripts for quantum sensing hardware (cameras, translation stages, laser controllers and more)
- Collaborate closely with hardware engineers to gather experimental requirements and translate them into robust, flexible testing solutions.
- Assist in setting up complex experimental systems with software-operable components, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis.
- Troubleshoot, refine, and optimize existing scripts to improve testing throughput and reliability.
- Own the laboratory computer equipment (Linux platform) and ensure its smooth operation.
- Adapt quickly to changing project requirements in a dynamic start-up environment.
What is expected of you
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Electronics, or Mechatronics (or a closely related field).
- Hands-on experience with complex experimental setups that include multiple software-controlled components.
- Proficiency in Python scripting for hardware testing, measurement automation, or data acquisition.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and remain flexible as requirements evolve.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on effective team support.
Our benefits
- Competitive salary with equity participation.
- 30 days of paid vacation plus public holidays.
- Annual learning and development budget.
- Regular off-sites and team events.
