Help streamline client’s customs processes!
The opportunity:
Flexport is experiencing massive growth with 3000+ Flexporters across 14 global offices and warehouses, and we’re just getting started.
With revenue growing at breakneck speed, Flexport is looking for a Senior Customs Associate to help shape our customs team in Amsterdam. This is the perfect position for an experienced customs declarant with a background in customs who is detail-oriented, process-orientated, and loves to build! The position will have you working alongside and learning from some of the smartest people in the customs & logistics industry as we challenge the status quo and reduce the friction in global trade and showcase clients how to simplify their customs flow.
What you'll do:
- Complete Customs declarations to a high standard.
- Help to onboard new customers & build customs SOPs.
- Develop operational processes, see a problem and fix it.
- Work with the sales teams to provide high-level guidance on all things customs to prospecting clients.
- Help onboard and mentor new hires.
- Think outside the box and find new ways of working that challenge the norm.
- Assist in high-level customs topic discussions around classification, origin, and valuation.
- Customer-focused - Provide high-level customer service to our customers and work with various stakeholders across different industries.
- Work in a team of customs professionals and help drive a team environment.
- Contribute to projects to build new tech, implement new service offerings and manage different workflows.
- Collaborate with internal & external stakeholders in the development of operational efficiencies whilst being customer-centric.
The candidate must be able to demonstrate they have:
- A true passion for customs and compliance.
- Experience with using customs softwares.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in customs & forwarding.
- A strong knowledge of NL customs.
- A proven track record of building processes, implementing new ideas and a passion for thinking outside of the box.
- Familiarity with Customs product classification, origin, valuation and the EU tariff.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- A problem solver at heart.
- Courage to challenge the status quo when logic and reason require it. See something broken? Fix it.
- High level of computer literacy.
