Position Summary
We are seeking a Cloud DevOps Engineer with deep experience in Azure infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and DevOps methodologies to support defence-oriented technology deployments and cutting-edge platform integrations. You will play a key role in designing, deploying, and optimizing secure, scalable, and resilient cloud environments, while integrating novel technologies into production systems.
This role offers a unique opportunity to shape mission-driven systems architecture and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams supporting national security programs and innovation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage robust Azure-based infrastructure solutions using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Bicep, Terraform, ARM templates).
- Integrate emerging and novel technologies (e.g., mobile platforms, geospatial analytics, zero-trust architectures) into legacy or hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Collaborate with application developers to understand system dependencies and ensure deployment pipelines meet operational and security requirements.
- Optimize infrastructure performance, scalability, and cost through continuous monitoring and capacity planning.
- Implement and manage security controls, ensuring compliance with frameworks such as Essential 8, ISM, NIST 800-53, CMMC, or FedRAMP (where applicable).
- Manage Cloudflare services including DNS, WAF, Zero Trust Access, and CDN configuration for production environments.
- Support and maintain MDM platforms (e.g., Intune, Jamf, Kandji) and mobile device policies across the organization.
- Work with third-party vendors and defence partners, ensuring integrations and deliverables meet program-specific requirements.
- Document infrastructure architecture, standards, and procedures to support knowledge transfer and audit readiness.
- Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for infrastructure-related events.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering roles with a focus on Azure.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, Pulumi).
- Experience deploying and managing Cloudflare services including WAF, DNS, and Zero Trust configurations.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts including VPNs, firewalls, routing, and virtual networks.
- Familiarity with mobile device management (MDM) platforms and endpoint policy enforcement.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps toolchains (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins).
- Proficiency with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, AKS, Docker Swarm).
- Solid understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases and data-intensive systems, including exposure to big data environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, documentation discipline, and the ability to work independently and within agile teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially when working across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Azure Certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400) or equivalent hands-on proficiency.
- Familiarity with geospatial data formats (e.g., GeoTIFF, SHP, KML, PostGIS) and related processing workflows.
- Experience supporting defence, intelligence, or government clients, particularly in secure or classified environments.
- Exposure to zero-trust architectures, identity management (e.g., Azure AD, Okta), and compliance workflows.
