About the role
We are looking for an engaging and enthusiastic teacher who will deliver instructive and inspiring English lessons to support Asylum Seekers looking to settle and start a new life in the UK.
This is a 4-day fixed-term employment contract (UK-based) for 4 months initially. It will require initial learner assessments and then the delivery of a course consisting of 3 days of in-person classes in the Chorley area and 1 day of informal teaching in the community.
You’ll be
Delivering an incredible course, helping learners get closer to work by working cross-functionally with our employment-focused Pathway Coaches
Working cross-functionally with the rest of the Beam Skills team to iterate and improve this course for future use
Experimenting with new ideas for how we incorporate English training into Beam’s award-winning employment and housing support
You are
Comfortable delivering in-person training in an engaging and effective way
Excited about the possibilities of technology transforming the lives of some of society’s most disadvantaged people
Highly organised and renowned for your incredible attention to detail
Comfortable working with new technologies and problem-solving
Self-starting and enthusiastic about operational tasks: keen to improve processes and suggest new ways of doing things
Happy to support operational tasks during the initial setup of an ESOL education course.
You’ll need
Experience designing and delivering effective ESOL courses
A CELTA qualification, but if not, a TEFL or TESOL qualification
Preferably experience working with Asylum Seekers before, including detailed knowledge of the challenges people experience
What great looks like
You’ll deliver an exceptional course to one of our first cohorts of learners preparing them for life in the UK
You’ll be constantly improving the course, both throughout delivery and after the first cohort have finished
Our commissioners will be impressed by the learner feedback and outcomes
You will have co-developed a delivery model that can be replicated across different cohorts of refugees
