Build the Market Leader in Satellite Analytics with us at LiveEO
LiveEO leverages satellite imagery and artificial intelligence to provide actionable insights that drive decision-making across various industries. For example, we detect trees and their height in high-resolution imagery to help protect power grids, or identify dangerous construction work around critical infrastructure.
We are looking for a motivated Data Engineering Intern to join LiveEO’s AI team. In this role, you will contribute to the development of our geospatial AI solutions by helping to build and improve data pipelines that transform terabytes of satellite data into ML-ready formats for large-scale model training and work on tooling to increase the speed of model development and evaluation.
This internship is a great opportunity to learn how to work with cutting-edge geospatial and AI technologies in a real-world environment. You will work closely with experienced engineers and researchers, gain hands-on experience with big data, and see how your work directly contributes to impactful AI applications.
We don’t expect you to have expertise in all areas from the start—what matters most is your curiosity, willingness to learn, and motivation to tackle technical challenges as part of a groundbreaking team.
Your challenge
Execution, support and improvement of data pipelines that process large volumes of geospatial raster data
Assist in orchestrating and automating workflows with tools such as Prefect
Learn to work with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) and help ensure data integrity and performance
Contribute to the continuous improvement of our data processing frameworks by exploring challenges in large-scale Machine Learning pipelines and satellite image processing (e.g. data selection, observability, versioning, automated QA)
Collaborate closely with experienced engineers and researchers, gaining hands-on exposure to industry-standard tools and practices
Tech stack & tools you will work with:
Data Processing: Rasterio, Numpy, SQLAlchemy
Orchestration: Prefect, Anyscale/Ray
Databases: PostgreSQL, PostGIS
Infrastructure: Docker, AWS, GitLab
GIS: QGIS, GDAL
Data Access & Integration: REST APIs
Collaboration & Project Management: Jira, Linear
You don’t need prior experience with all of these — but you should be eager to learn and excited to work with large-scale geospatial data and AI pipelines.
Your profile
Python scripting experience
Able to understand complex data flows
Open mind, respectful attitude towards others and their work and good communication skills are a must
You are fluent in English (written and spoken)
Understanding of geospatial and remote sensing data and processing techniques is a big plus
Interest in Machine Learning (Operations) and related tooling is a plus
Knowledge of SQL or relational databases is a plus
Geospatial knowledge and related tools/libraries such as GDAL, QGIS or rasterio is a plus
Some exposure to cloud platforms, especially AWS is a plus
Curiosity about the latest developments in Large Language Models (LLMs), computer vision models, and Vision-Language Models (VLMs) is a plus
