What will you be doing at DeepL in the future?
We are growing very strongly and are gaining a large number of customers every day. That is an exciting time! At the same time, our tasks, expenses, and accounts are also growing.
And this is where you come in with your expertise: through your experience and motivation, you make your contribution to the expansion and transformation of our Accounts Payable team. We are searching for an outgoing and self-motivated team member to support our Head of Accounting with immediate effect as Accounts Payable Lead.You will have the opportunity to shape things from the ground up and thus also according to your ideal conception. Through your foresight, you will ensure smoothly functioning AP processes in the long term, as they are ideally lived in technology-affine companies
Your tasks
Lead Accounts Payable Operations: Manage the full AP cycle across multiple entities, ensuring accurate invoice processing, vendor payments, and reconciliations, while maintaining strong internal controls and compliance.
Own T&E Policy and Process: Oversee the global travel and expense function, ensuring policy compliance, timely reimbursements, and continuous improvements in employee experience and system usage.
Drive Process Improvements: Identify and implement scalable solutions to streamline AP and T&E processes, leveraging automation tools and best practices to support business growth.
Enhance Systems and Tools: Evaluate, implement, and optimize finance expense platforms to drive efficiency, automation, and data integrity across AP and T&E functions.
Support Financial Reporting and Close: Collaborate with the broader finance team on month-end close activities, including AP ledger, reporting, and audit support.
Collaborate and Enable Growth: Work closely with Finance Systems, FP&A, and other internal stakeholders to align on policy, reporting, and operational needs, while helping lay the groundwork for future procurement and spend management capabilities.
What you should have with you
Solid Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience managing Accounts Payable and Travel & Expenses functions, ideally in a fast-paced or scaling environment.
Process Mindset: A strong track record of identifying inefficiencies and driving process improvements through automation, standardization, or policy updates.
Systems Fluency: Comfort working with ERP and expense management systems (e.g., WorkDay, Navan), with the ability to evaluate and optimize tools as the business grows.
Financial Acumen: A clear understanding of accounting principles related to AP and T&E, including accruals and their impact on financial reporting.
Detail and Deadline Orientation: High attention to accuracy, consistency, and timeliness in payment cycles, reporting, and month-end close activities.
Collaborative Spirit: Ability to work cross-functionally with People, Finance, and other teams; open to building new capabilities like procurement and supporting scalable operations across the company.
A successfully completed business studies degree or commercial training
At least 3 years of professional experience in leading an AP team
Relevant experience in various ERP systems, very good knowledge of common MS-Office tools
Experience with Workday is a bonus
Outgoing and self-motivated personality with strong communication and organizational skills
A high degree of personal responsibility, transparency as well as a structured and goal-oriented approach to work and high attention to detail
Fluency in English
